This is when students organize a walk or demonstration to raise awareness about an issue personally important to each student. Combining these resources makes for a powerful exit for seniors. If your students are juniors and seniors, consider getting them started with community action projects relevant to their career interests. On top of that, she discovered her true passion in life and built essential 21st-century skills such as organization, collaboration, communication, planning, and more. This student not only gave her time to the cause that she was passionate about, but she was able to raise awareness about the issue at the same time. She coordinated and executed a speaker event where some of the women from the shelter came to speak to the community. She organized a food and clothing drive for women in the shelter. She connected with a shelter that took in trafficking survivors to help them get back on their feet. One of my students did her project on human trafficking. Students find an organization relevant to the issue they've chosen for their project and give their time to that organization. That often takes the shape of volunteering. One way to take action on an issue of importance is by giving time to a cause.
